Learning to ice skate on a course of classes at Deeside Ice Rink, new comers are guided through the National Ice Skating Association's Skate UK programme. The programme is composed of grades from 1 to 10 with moves of advancing skills as ice skaters progress. Skaters are encouraged to practice outside of lesson time to master their newly learned skills and assist in swift progression through the grades. ![]()

On completing Grades 1 - 10, skaters proceed to the Skate UK Star passport where they learn their first real jumps, spins and even their first routine. Successful completion of the passport skills allows skaters to progress to National Ice Skating Association (NISA) tests and competitions both at club level and at open events. This is the point where a skater wishing to continue to develop their skills needs to choose an instructor/coach for private tuition. |
