Choosing the right boots and blades for you

This depends on the age and experience of the skater.

Generally as skaters get older and/or more advanced, firmer boots and more specialised blades are required.

One of the best multi-purpose blade for beginners progressing onward from Skate UK grades to NISA tests are CORONATION ACE BLADES. The crafting of the rocker and toe pick make for better spins and jumps.

Best rules for Boots.....

  • For growing youngsters, please make sure the boot fits with no more than 1/2 to 1 size to spare.

  • Clown boots (those that are several sizes too big and stuffed with extra socks) do not allow a skater to control their feet and balance over the blades which can slow a skaters progress.

  • Everybody has different feet, so there is not one boot that is best for everyone. Recommendations from friends and/or coaches are useful, but if the boot is too narrow or too wide then it's not the one for you.

  • See links in left margin for online suppliers of boots and blades

For top advice on how to mount blades to your new boots and how to care for your blades check out the Wilson/MK website
